Rock Dove Art - Jo’s Story
We don’t always choose when our lives are about to change, and becoming an artist definitely wasn’t something I’d planned.
I began using art as therapy for chronic illness and while I was experimenting with different mediums, I found my love of mosaic.
In the years since, I’ve spent countless hours researching, experimenting, growing my portfolio, perfecting my artistic skills and the technical engineering that goes into every design.
I started selling on Etsy and, with a lot of hard work, have achieved the following:
Consistently awarded their “Star Seller” badge for excellence in quality, delivery and customer service
Over 400 five star reviews (and counting)
Multiple designs have been awarded “Etsy’s Pick” (given to their favourite items)
Achieving the honour of having a “Best Seller” design across the whole of Etsy for my category
With my rescue cats to keep me company and my garden to fill with beautiful things, life is full of colour.
Art and Design
Every piece is handmade by me, from the drawing and cutting of the shape, to the final polish.
Some sculptures form a series of similar designs, some will be completely unique, but due to the nature of hand cut glass, all are one of a kind.
From high end art in the sculptures and wall art to the quirky, cute and kitsch garden ornaments, there’s something for everyone.
Materials
A lot of time has gone into sourcing materials and partnering with suppliers to ensure the finest raw materials go into my work.
From the glass and ceramic mosaic tesserae, the stained glass and the silvering chemicals that transform the glass into stunning coloured and textured mirror, to the steel, solder, and grout that form the bones of my work, everything is tried and tested before going into production.
